Sony announces Bravia line of HDTVs
Continuing their efforts to regain lost market share, Sony announced a new line of LCD HDTV sets
called "Bravia". Sony will intro five different LCDs in the line,
ranging from 26- to 40-inches in size. No additional details on the
Bravia line are available other the definition of Bravia, which stands
for "Best Resolution Audio Video Integrated Architecture."Once the leader in the worldwide television market, Sony is attempting a turnaround to compete with up-and-coming HDTV manufacturers such as Samsung, Sharp, Panasonic and LG. Today's Bravia announcement comes on the heels of last week's SXRD-series news. Will a new product line help Sony compete or is there more to do? Without any idea of what the new line offers, it's difficult to say just yet, but we'll be watching.

Considering the "BR" stands for "Best Resolution", we can cross our fingers and hope that these are 1080p capable displays across the entire line. In fact, if they aren't I'm going to be generally annoyed at the moniker! 1920x1080 sounds doubtful at 26 inches, but there are computer monitors with this resolution as small as 23" so there is not technical reason it can't happen.
