Akimbo will have an HD unit
Since there isn't much afternoon HD programming we decided to read the lastest news in "Communications Engineering and Design". You know, the broadband technology magazine? You do have a subscription, don't you? Yeah, right.Actually, it's pretty good mag and we just stumbled across an interview with Akimbo CEO Josh Goldman. In case you aren't aware, Akimbo is a video-delivery service that utilizes broadband to bring content to your television.
At the tail end of the interview (yes, we read to the bottom this time), Goldman indicates "When we architected the whole system, it was designed to do the same thing for hi-def content....We have not yet announced a stand-alone version of our player with HD outputs. That obviously would need a larger hard drive and a different chipset. But we view hi-def content as ultimately a critical part of what we’ll do." What a great development this will be!

Cool.
I'm right now looking for the ideal delivery package for HD content ( ship the work already in the box to the tradeshow, or event, plug it in, and hit play solution )
Right now i have to use DVI output from laptops and that seems to present configuration issues and the risk of theft. If i had a simple component out plyg and play - i probably could sell a unit to each client, especailly if its small enough to fit into a fed-ex same-day courier box.

Highly crafty and intriguing article. It highlights the intricate relationship between the subject and its essence. It is highly informative.
Nice to stumble across this post. (Thanks pubsub!)
Akimbo has also previously announced that it soon will be available on Windows Media Center. Since many MCE devices can quite easily handle HD, it is theoretically possible to deliver HD content via Akimbo to our MCE client. This is only theoretical of course, at least until our launch of MCE client.
Stay 'tuned'...
