FiOS from Verizon to carry 330 channels
Why we're getting this information from a UK site is beyond us, but we're not picky. Verizon's FiOS television service here in the US is expected to carry a jaw-dropping 330 channels.
Twenty HDTV channels will be offered as well as several thousand
video-on-demand programs. No word if the VODs will be available in
high-def.If this information is accurate, the cable and satellite provides should be quaking in their boots. I don't think either of those industries really has the bandwidth to compete with Verizon's offerings. One thing is for sure: we're going to need PVRs with a good terabyte or two for that many channels.

Could this be why Comcast is trying to lure people into additional service with long-term contracts attached? FIOS fiber was laid at my curb a few weeks ago and Comcast has decided to add TNT-HD and start a serious promotion. Ain't competition wonderful!
I've had Fios since May 2005. Not one hiccup. Dumped Comcast for Internet - good riddence. I've had DirecTV for 8 years but will jump ship when the Fios TV switch is turned on - hopefully early 2006 (Montgomery County,MD). I just got my 1080p Mitsubishi DLP this week in anticipation of Verizon Fios TV High-Def goodness. In the meantime I'm loving the free network TV high-def. Being in DC I've got lots of DTV choices over the air. This will tide me over until Fios TV lights up.
