Largest sports rivalry in HDTV
As
Americans we often think we're the center of the sports universe; by
some standards we are, but not when it comes to football. I mean
football in the world sense, it's what we "yanks" call soccer. VOOM
just announced that they're bringing the world's largest sports rivalry
to the HDTV screen with the addition of new matches from the Spanish
Premiere League. The big rivalry in question is the one between Real Madrid and Barcelona. According to Mark DeAngelis, the VP of programming at RUSH-HD, "Being able to air two matches between Real Madrid and Barcelona is extremely exciting. Their rivalry is on par with the Yankees and Red Sox but on a global scale.”
I'm actually a big soccer fan and these additional matches in high-def are gearing me up for World Cup 2006. All matches are available on RUSH-HD which is a VOOM channel available on Dish Network. Additional details on matches and dates are available after the jump.
Games will be played the weekend of the dates listed:
11.19: Real Madrid vs. Barcelona
11.27-28: Barcelona vs. Raccing
12.4-5: Real Madrid vs. Getafe
12.11-12: Barcelona vs. Sevilla

Additional games TBD

Soccer(futbol) on VOOM looks great. Back when VOOM exsisted I could watch the same match 2 or 3 times because it looked so nice.
I keep reading that the WC 2006 will be broadcast in HD but where, what channel? I dropped all satellite when VOOM died and want to know who(Dish or DirectTV) will carry the most games. That may be my deciding factor with which one i go with.
World Cup 2006 on US HDTV:
ABC
ESPNHD
ESPN2HD
All 64 live broadcasts in HD. A specific schedule of which games on which channel should be out next year. Expect about 30 games on ESPN2 and the rest on ESPN and ABC.
Thanks, that is awesome news. So either one Dish or DirectTV and OTA should carry them all.
