HD DVD lost the war when they made the decision that ALL HD DVD players would be HDMI ONLY!!! NO COMPONENT VIDEO OUTPUTS!!! That is the most rediculous thing I've ever heard! Everyone knows that the large majority of HDTV's currently in peoples homes do not have HDMI. Do you think all those people are going to go out and buy brand new HDTV's with HDMI, or do you think they'll choose the competitor (blu-ray) which is compatible with their HDTV? Dumb...dumb...dumb...the decisions people make for DRM...
If Sony decides they're also going to go down the HDMI ONLY path, then I'd have to say that both might fail to take off. If they did succeed with HDMI ONLY interfaces then the adoption rate is going to be very slow and millions of people are really going to be pissed off at the technology.
HD DVD IS DOOMED!!!
