I'm using an ATI graphics card as well (Radeon 9600PRO) and it plays back HDTV with no problem. However, I've heard that NVidia's cards are made with more of a focus on TV playback and that they work more seamlessly with their PureVideo decoder to provide better deinterlacing performance. I'm thinking about picking up a 6600GT to test this out. BTW, both the 9600PRO and the 6600GT come in fanless versions for the noise obsessed.
