DivX on Media Center not likely
Looks like no DivX for Windows Media Center, Windows Media Extenders or If you want to be in my living room all of the time, you need to open up to all of the possibilities. The fact is: folks are downloading high-def videos in formats you don't readily support. They're going to keep on doing this, so why fight it with closure of codecs? Embrace the openness and reconsider DivX support. Sure, your WMV-HD is a solid vehicle; that's not the point. The point is: the more you shut down my entertainment options, the more I'm going to shut down products that you write software for. It's that simple.

i'm plenty happy with streaming DivX/Xvid/most HD files to my plasma with the Pinnacle Showcenter 200 even though i prefer the MCE gui.
Divx works fine with Windows Media Center 2005. Well, you can play it back, but fast forwarding or rewinding is non-existent. But you are right that the extenders do not support it.
There should be support for all popular codecs out there, or atleast a way to download upgrades that would allow support.
Its crazy that the 360 doesn't support this. They even support AAC and connecting to the iPod so obviously the 360 group isn't completely forcing all MS products on you. How about H.264? Very popular with the video iPods. I personally like that codec but I haven't done a whole lot of comparisons. It's not as associated with pirated movies as DiVX and Xvid. The 360 has more than enough juice to decode H.264 along with basically any popular codec. Make it happen people!
Yeah this was a huge dissappointment for me as well. I would love to stream my divx/xvid movies as well. I use the 360 for my WMV HD, but I watch my xvids on my old xbox with XBMC, it just can't handle any divx hd so i would love to be able to watch them on my HD. Come one micorsoft reconsider!!!
I don't get it. They don't own any content. This isn't Sony we're talking about. Why lock us into one format? They already have the system locked into Windows for video in general! What I fear is this gives all the more reason for the hackers to have their way with the system. If they removed these barriers, they would also remove much of the motivation of the hackers.
