Manufacturers gearing up for the World Cup
Believe it or not, the Super Bowl is not the
most watched sporting event. I know! I couldn't believe it ether! No, really the World Cup far surpasses it and this year manufactures are getting their LCDs
and PDPs ready. This is a huge event for makers of HDTVs. This tournament is bigger then the Super Bowl, Final Four,
and World Series combined. According to FIFA, all the matches together
will have a combined viewing audience of 30 million fans.
The 2002 World Cup shot fledging Sharp to the number one spot and companies like Samsung and LG.Philips are not going to let
that happen again. The oversupply of LCDs that caused the prices to drop this year will help supply the billions of
fans that will be looking for a HDTV this June.
The only thing I know about the
World Cup is us Americans are put in our place as we get our butts kicked.

Don`t you mean 30 Billion instead of 30 Million? ;)
nice holidays
backbone
The US team reached the quarter finals during the last World Cup. The tournament started with almost 200 teams so I don't think that qualifies as a butt kicking.
On a side note, I recently bought my HDTV in anticipation of this tournament when I heard all games would be broadcast in HD this year.
Let's hope it doesn't get messed up here in the UK like the last one where we didn't even get it in widescreen (the live games). I'll have my HDTV and SkyHD box by then
