Is Apple about to announce new Viiv-powered plasma TV's?

Maybe, or maybe not. But thats the basis of an
offbeat piece on Powerpage. Apple branded 42 and 50" widescreen plasmas, running MacOS, and with Bluetooth and
Airport technology also built in. Only thing missing is an iPod video dock, then it would be the perfect Apple rumor, hinging on their new partering with Intel.
So what do you think, a possibility, or someone pulling at the strings of the Apple and HDTV-addicted?

This is a rumor started at the Appleinsider forums by someone who says they are in the know. However, he just drops hints that it will involve VIIV and "be more than a iMac." The features listed are speculation by other members of the forum based on his "hints." Regard very lightly.
42 inches, grr. That's too big for some of our living rooms. And that's a pretty big ginormous in size from the current offering (if the current largest iMac qualifies as that).

if you use this screen calc you find that a 42 wide screen is really the same as a 34 inch standard def tv... think about, it'll change your mind about size.
we've been shopping for a large flat screen TV for about 2 years and find the whole thing intolerable. dealing with aspect ratios, and resolution. There is nothing worse then watching Standard Def on a HD display without a quality scaler. It boggles my mind that so many people think it look good. Don't even get me started about watching SD letterboxed content ona 16x9 screen, black pillars on the sides and black bars on top and bottom.
The real issue in HD TV is a good quality scaler, and that will cost you as much as some of the lower end screens.
I'd much rather have the additional space of a widescreen TV when watching high definiition content, and a slightly smaller SD picture, than watching shrunk HD ccontent on a 4x3 screen.
It's much bigger when watching the content you most want to watch, so take that into account.
