MTV-HD is on the air

MTV's new high definition channel MHD went live yesterday on Cox Communications and Verizon, it is available in Florida and California only for the moment.

Another interesting note is that besides the launch concert featuring the Goo Goo Dolls, MTV has been shooting in high definition with 5.1 surround sound for over a year, building up content for the new network.

Any HDBeat readers notice a new HD channel in their lineup today?

does anyone know if this will be avalible for comcast? comcast only has like 10 channels in HD.

MTV-HD is on Cox cable in the Hampton Roads area (Hampton/Norfolk/Virginia Beach) of Virginia. I saw Alicia Keys's fine performance in Hi-Def last night. Plus, no wack reality shows just music so far.

I was enjoying it on my pc with my dvico fusion 5 lite card until i woke up this morning to find it encrypted. It was awesome why it lasted. If only it were august and cablecard for the pc was out. Id still be watching.
