They're not 1080p, so what's the point you ask? Tell me, how much 1080p content is available right now? Hardly any. How much 720p and 1080i content is there? Certainly quite a bit more.
These sets will do just fine. When 1080p happens with HD-DVD and Blu-Ray, I'm sure players will be perfectly capable of scaling down content for existing sets.
