#2 - i find that hard to believe. you should have asked what kind of signal they were running to it. some of those morons at best buy/circuit city/etc. send crappy feeds to nice tv's and they look terrible. in my experience, the sony 34 inch widescreen XBR CRT was (and still is) the best looking picture of any tv on the market. but yes, it's expensive, huge, and probably weighs 150lbs.
