Sony profits bounce back with Bravias

Maybe Sir Howard has a master plan after all. Sony reversed their 10 billion yen forecasted loss for the year with a new expectation of profits to the tune of 70 billion yen. The new forecasted profit of $605 million is due in large part by profitability in the Sony Bravia LCD line. According to Sony, the Bravia sets were the best-selling LCD line in America for the fourth quarter of 2005, taking a 30-percent share of all LCDs sold. In hindsight, those quarter of a million super-balls might have added a little bounce into the once-dominant TV maker.

I have a bravia myself, and can only say that almost all is perfect.
the only drawback is that the HDMI input accepts only 1280x720 input, which is other than the native 1366x768 other than that. perfect screen!

I was hoping the new Bravias for 2006 would be capable of 1080p. It is dissapointing that Sony has not added this to these models.

I wouldn't say the Bravia's are perfect but I would agree that its one of the best LCD's. I have one myself. Drawbacks include: no DVI input, several hundred dollars more expensive, relatively weak SD picture, 1 HDMI input. If I wasn't going to move in 1-2 years and plasma's weren't so fragile to move I would have not bought a LCD HDTV.
