Hey, it's a nice way of saying these shows don't merit an HD feed, OK? These five shows should just stop broadcasting
in high-def and go back to standard definition television. If they stay in HD, we'll keep watching them because we'll
take a bad HD show over a good SD any day. Check out the list and tell us which ones we missed.
- "King of Queens": We think Kevin James is funny of course, but do we need to see him in HD? No, we don't
think so.
- "E.R".: It's actually a good show,
not a great show like it was ten years ago, but a good show. The problem? After a long hard day of work, it's nice to
sit and relax in front of the widescreen. E.R. is just too damn stressful!
- "According to
Jim": See "King of Queens" above for similar reasons. Besides, we're hearing that this one might be on
it's last legs in SD or HD.
- "American
Idol": Not only do we have to see untalented knuckleheads that have no sense of reality, but we have to hear
them is crystal clear Digital Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound too. Please, stop the music!
- "Joey": If you don't even warrant your own show category on TV Squad,
how can we possibly watch? We would have opted for a Chandler Bing spin-off instead.
I actually think that Joey is hillarious! I only watched the first few seasons of Friends. So I think the show has its own merits. However, Joey has been taken off the air until after the Olympics. :-( Hopefully it will return.
I agree with the above poster, I find Joey funny. You guys in the US should apreciate HD, not have a go like this, here in the UK we don't have HD broadcast at all (yet!).
And you guys really need to learn that people who don't have hi-def still get widescreen! (Widescreen's been broadcast here in the UK since around 1999) so those HD "easter eggs" you keep refering to (Lost, Earl etc) are nothing to do with HD, it's widescreen.
If your argument is that WS wasn't broadcast in the US before HD (I don't know if it was or not, but from some of your comments I'm guessing it wasn't) then you should realise a LOT of your visitors are from outside the USA
You guys in the UK have Sky digital over satellite, HDTV is just around the corner man, even the settop boxes are allready announced
I know it's due for launch any month, I've got the money sitting in the bank for the new set top box (trying not to let the wife spend it!), just wish they'd give us a definite date and price (it's been rumoured anytime between valentines day and June and from £200 to £500 for the boxes)
This article is rediculous! EVERYTHING should be shown in HD. To propogate the idea that NEW content should be produced in anything but defeats the purpose of HAVING HD.
A better question should be to understand why studios produce questionable HD shows and continue to produce popular shows in SD (Survivor, Amazing Race, etc).
KH, I think you missed the joke here.
As for the widescreen / HD argument - while correct, it's not relevant, really, for those of us here in the States.
and yet this isn't a US site and in no way does it refer to watching in the US so it is a relevant HD/WS issue
1. As more people watch HDTV, the numbers drive down equptment prices. It also drives up ad revenues for HD providers, which allows them to generate more and more varied HD content.
2. Idiots are the largest part of the population.
1 + 2 =
3. Shows idiots watch are the most critical to have in HDTV. The shows listed here tell me the networks are on top of it.
Remember, Kevin James say new Cooler Ranch Doritos brand snack chips are even more delicious in high definition!

I take it this was a joke. Personally, if a show is good enough to watch, I'm happy watching it in good old SD analogue. I can't believe there are people out there who will watch any old crap if it's in HD. Then again, a lot of people watch reality TV.
