Did you take advantage of the Super Bowl?
Well, the game is only a few hours away and if you haven't got your new
HDTV yet, you better have a big truck and be able to find one in stock. We all know by now that this last week is huge
for HDTV sales, but we are curious to know if you bought one because you are a true fan or because the true fans bring down the price for the rest of us.Don't get us wrong, there is nothing wrong with taking advantage of a great sale, but did the Super Bowl really have any barring on purchasing a new HDTV? There really was some great sales to be had, and we are sure the retailers and manufacturers are going to announce "record HDTV" sales in a few weeks, but did you take advantage of it?
Me? No. I love the Super Bowl and football alike, but it did not drive me to purchase a new HDTV. Maybe if I was hosting the party this year, a bigger one would be cool, but not this time around. Maybe next year though.

I just got my first HDTV a Sony KV-30HS420, not the best TV but still very nice and what my budget allowed for. I didn't get it for the Super Bowl but when my HD DVR box went crazy i did use the Super Bowl as a reason the cable company needed to replace ir right then. I might tune into the Super Bowl to see what the fuss is about but football isn't my thing.
Um sadly no. I was tempted for sure. But I really want a 70" sxrd, and one generation newer than the Qualia. I frankly don't like the Qualia's glare prone screen, and the 60" is just not quite big enough. If they bring a larger (even better with a slightly bigger set of sxrd chips and some updated light engine stuff)I'm on board. I'd love to have HD now, as I don't have it yet, but I've waited a while for a set with the compromises I'm happy with, and I just will not settle till the 70" sxrd is out.
Prices were great, but I'm waiting for exactly what I want, seeing that I tend to own my TV's for a while.
My better half, the real sports addict is just going to go bug one of our DLP owning friends for an afternoon :)
I got me a Sony KD-34XBR960 earlier this week for a variety of reasons. Tax return was a big one that opened my wife and I up to the idea. And as the Super Bowl was coming up, though I hate football, I just couldn't resist seeing it on HD. So we stepped up our purchasing date.
I'm waiting until I move in a few months for the big HD purchase, however I thought I'd try to check out the game on my Dell 2405FPW 24" LCD monitor. A roommate who just moved out left behind his Time Warner HD cable box so I went over to Best Buy a few hours ago to get an HDMI -> DVI cable. Unfortanetly, I was unaware that the Dell monitor is not HDCP compliant, so I'm stuck viewing with an S-Video cable. The quality is not really any better than SD. :( Oh well, next year i'll be all set up properly.
