People put WAY too much weight in the HD-DVD early release and cheaper price: It's only being released 1 month before BluRay (March VS April) and the price is IRRELEVANT as early adopters dont care about price, they want the BEST quality (clearly BluRay) and studio support(again clearly BluRay). I'm not even mentionning the PS3 factor.
The ONLY HD-DVD players that will sell are to folks rich enough to buy them over an above there BluRay player purchases. Buy the time the average consumer is in play (sub 200$ players) the war will be over (BluRay wins).
