DIY, How do you clean your HDTV screen?
In the HDBeat podcast last week, I
mentioned that I clean my HDTV set daily. Yes, it's a bit obsessive, but the kids and pets keep crossing the masking
tape on the floor that I laid out in a three-foot radius around the set. When will they ever learn?Anyway, I got to thinking how I clean the screen which got me thinking: how do you clean your screen? I personally use Windex spray that I apply to an old newspaper and then I wipe the screen; there's nary a streak on the screen thanks to the newspaper method. Now, my two sets are older CRTs with a flat glass face; you may have an LCD, Plasma or some microdisplay device, so what secrets can you share on keeping that screen nice and clean?

I use two paper towels, one wet and one dry.
First I wipe it down with the wet one then I dry it off. Works great and no streaks.
Windex does work good on glass, but my TV has a plastic screen.
Old t-shirt with Windex. (Glass CRT)
I use Swiffer Dusters to remove dust from the screen. Works great without scratching the screen. To clean more serious things like finger smudges and such I use Monster® ScreenClean Big Screen TV Cleaning Kit for my DLP set. I do it about once a month and it Works great.
Windex has ammonia, not good for the antireflective coating found on most screens.
A damp cloth is usually sufficient
I use iKlear Apple Polish it comes with a micro cloth. Fomulated for LCD screens and the like. I have a SXRD 60" works great!

What is wrong with you people?
I use two microfiber clothes, one damp, one dry.
I have a Samsung LCD.
I use a soft rag with water. Warning: using wood based products such as paper towels and newspaper may scratch the screen. Also Windex contains Ammonia which can damage some coatings used on screens.
Use a microfiber cloth available at most optomitrists and many grocery stores and water. As noted, wood based products will scratch the plastic screen and cleaners like windex contain ammonia which can be harmful.
For My CRT HDTV's (24" or 30" Toshiba's) I use a swiffer or windex. For My 19 Dell I use swiffer.
For my 51 RPT Sony I've used the shirt on my back (my kid hit it with a flying disc, was hoping that he'd put a hole in it. I want the new 60" SXRD) or the LCD cleaning swipes I use for my laptop.
I also use the Monster Cable TV Screen Cleaning Kit on my 60" Grand Wega Sony LCD
