HDTV invades Holland
Holland's borders
are getting ready to fall to the hands of high definition. The country is about to get their first taste of HDTV with a
sports and a movie station appropriately named Sport1 and Film1. Crazy names eh?
In case you've forgotten there is a large sporting event that is oh so popular world wide. The World Cup is the most watched event. (period) Most European countries are launching their own high-def stations as this year's World Cup matches are going to be HD for the first time. Sport1 is set to launch in early June; hopefully before the June 9th start of the games.

This will be available to a small public in Holland.
So an invasion will be somewhat exaggerated. As the owner of the 2 new channels is part of one of the major cable companies, this will be available on cable only, so no OTA (DVB-T) or Satelite (DVB-S) hdtv yet (certain tests have shown that with the current bitrate used on cable and terrestrial broadcast even sdtv is not up to par with sattellite or dvd quality so broadcasting hdtv will be an even larger challenge, probably the image size will be hdtv, but the compression rates used will completely destroy the picture as they do now
What has the picture with a logo of "sport1.de" to do with the channel coming up? Did you checked the site you added? Seems to be a german sports site, nothing to do with Holland.
