We told you there would be more titles to
follow! We didn't expect it to be this soon, but we sure are glad it did and I am sure the next few days there will
many more.
Lionsgate is bringing some
great titles to the party including: Lord Of War and The Punisher. In the months to follow they will release more
including: Reservoir Dogs, Total Recall, and Stargate. The newer movies will have a suggested price of $40 and $30 for
older titles.
I am a little disappointed to see the suggested retail price, I had hoped they wouldn't cost
that much more than DVDs, but I suppose that was just wishful thinking. I can see I will have to wait some time before
I start to replace my DVD collection. I wonder when
Netflix will start to let me add
them to my queue?

$40 a pop is a little outrageous for a 2 hour movie. Sure HD movies look great but I'm not sure they look $20 better. My prediction, if Blue-Ray disc sale for $40 and HD-DVD is cheaper then Blu-Ray will die. I don't think the average consumer is going to be willing to spend $40 for a movie. Heck I'm a huge HD fan and I know I'm not willing to spend that much on movies.
I couldn't agree more, $40 is too much. I may buy one or two and rent the rest. I don't expect HD-DVD to be much cheaper per movie. The cost savings for HD-DVD will probabaly be limited to the players.
Don't forget most of these will be $30 and that's the SRP, not the price most of us will pay
Are we guaranteed that Blu Ray discs will all have the super special coating that makes them impervious to scratches? That would at least help the value equation - never having to replace it because the kids used it as a Frisbee.
Lion's Gate better hope the "street" price is sub $30

Walmart has HD-DVDs listed already at $25
Plus HD DVD will be shipping as much as 3 months early. I like both formats but HD DVD makes the most sense from a consumer standpoint. You get the HD quality at the best pricing.
