HDBeat Poll: Planning a next-gen DVD player purchase?
Aside from the setbacks, DRM challenges and lack of titles, we
should see a successful launch of HD-DVD and Blu-Ray in the very near future. Ok, maybe "successful" is
overly optimistic. "Very near future" leaves some wiggle room too, doesn't it? Maybe we should start over. We
should eventually see two new next-generation DVD launches. (That better?) We've seen comments on which format will
"win" and we've openly picked sides on the HDBeat
Podcast. Now we want to see what you think, since you're the target market for high-definition
DVDs.

I plan to use the Blu-ray Disc player in my PS3! Too bad it's only coming out in November. :(
I would have liked a "Both formats, I can't get enough HD" option.
I would cite HD-DVD's lower price point and it being good enough (not the storage of Blu-ray, but good enough or not the number of titles as Blu-ray, but good enough), but it's easier just disagreeing on any of Ben's predictions based on principle.
...But soley to play the latest version of GranTurismo (the exact same reason I bought a PS1 and PS2). A Bluray drive is just a welcome bonus. :-)
No Both Option? Since I want both, that shouldn't make me undecided should it?
There's now an option for "Both". I'm not one to judge, but boy, you folks need help! Just kidding...happy voting.
There needs an option for "Whichever one has the most porn"
This is something I am curious about. When DVD was released, for like a full year, only porn was available until real movies signed on. I don't think this is the case here, so both formats will fail... Prove me wrong... Where my porn at people? D-VHS?
Not for a few years any way. This is all over-hyped.
Most people don't see the difference in quality as far as VHS and DVD. The difference is even less noticable when you jump to any HD-DVD format. One thing I am sure of, one of the HD formats will die before standard DVDs are done.
After the whole XCP deal, I'm not letting any Sony-devised systems onto my network. HD-DVD all the way.
PS3's Bluray FTW! (fo da win suckaz!)
Neither, boycott and save your money. Hologram disk are right around the corner.
I want to say "both", but I mean specifically the hybrid players. There really isn't a real format war, the two formats have far more in common than they have differences. Hybrid players are going to make format a moot point for nearly all consumers (though Blu-Ray probably has the long term edge).

Blu-ray has the majority of pornshare. Again, yet another advantage for Blu-ray.
Blu Ray only for me because of the more than double the studio support adavantage, and the 1080p as well as far better gb potential.
I'll be getting a PS3 or BD-R drive if PC playback is possible.
If I wanted "good enough" I'd stick with DVD. I want the best and Blu-ray gives me that. Since they've pretty much got everything going for them it's a no brainer
