HDTV Sports Sunday: Golf & Indy don't get it done
NBA: Check
NCAA: Check
NASCAR: Check
PGA & IRL: Zzzzzzzzzzzz
I guess I don't have much to complain about. A close game between the Pacers and 76ers is on ABC, NASCAR Nextel Cup action is about to kick off in Bristol on Fox, and CBS' sharp-but-pixely Elite 8 coverage is less than an hour away.
But what if I wanted to check out Vijay, Retief, Tiger and the guys out at Sawgrass? Golf is already boring to watch (it is, I like to play golf but watching it is like watching someone else take a walk in the park), in SD it's a no-go. The IRL (R.I.P. Paul Dana) keeps trying to tell me how big a star Danica Patrick is going to be but if I don't see her in 720p then well, I won't see her.

Nascar has been great in HD as always.
I really think golf is a sport that could be used to show the glory of HD. Many of the courses they play have beautiful surroundings. AFAIK the only golf in HD this year is the Masters and PGA Championship on CBS (1080i). I think autoracing should be easier to do in HD because most of the cameras are in fixed places, whereas many of the cameras in golf are carried around the course and they follow guys as they get closer to the lead.
If NASCAR can show most of the races in HD then why can't Indy Car? As fantastic as the Masters looks in HD you would think that the PGA would do all they can to promote HD for the majority of their tournements. At least the Majors.
