NeoDigits launches new line of DVD players - HELIOS

The world of up-scaling DVD players is a young one and still has room to go. NeoDigits is a leading online supplier of DVD players and they are launching a new line of DVD players under the name of HELIOS. Leading the way is their first model, the HVD2085.
When you informed you about the cheap Samsung, many of you asked about up-scaling over component; well this boy has it. But the HVD2085 takes it up a notch and does all the way up to 1080p over component and HDMI. But it does not stop there. The unit has digital and analog 5.1 outputs and even a VGA connection. We can keep going and telling you about the NTSC and PAL modes along with an autoplay feature that bypasses all the trailers and menues but all you care about is the picture right?
NeoDigits was kind enough to provide us with a review unit and we will have a complete review up next week. If you cannot wait, the DVD player is available right now for $199 on their website.

probably meant "we informed you"
Can someone tell me how and/or why an upscaled DVD is any better than a progressive scanned DVD at native res?
As far as I can tell, you can't add detail that isn't there, and from where I sit, I don't understand what, if any, benefit there is to upscaling video.
I'd like to see a side by side or pixel for pixel representation of a progressive scanned original res to an upscaled version of the same picture.
The website says 1080i, but not 1080p. Where did you get this info from? Is the site wrong?
Yeah, what the heck is upscaling good for??
Namlet - The overview page does not list the 1080 spec but check out this link about the technicial specs.

There's a lot of companies who've been making line doublers, triplers, quadruplers, etc for years that would disagree with you ;) I know you can't add detail, but you can smooth and do some educating guessing to artificially increase resolution.
This appears to me to be nothing more than a re-branded NeuNeo. If you check the links for product reviews on the NeoDigits page describing this product, it links back to reviews for the NeuNeo with the same model number.
So, is there anything new about this other than the Helios name?
I wonder how it compares to the Oppo in image quality, updates, format support, and overall quality.
Am I reading it correctly that it only supports up to 1080i/720P over HDMI and 1080P over component?
What about quality and guarantee? Who become the lucky owner of this player? What can you tell about their usability?
what is the differece between this and prior neodidgit hvd player 2085 which was being sold for 145 dollars in oct 2005
have I mentioned today how much it pisses me off that the 360 dosn't do upscaling. No? Well it does, what a totaly retarded wast of power.
I was seriously considering this player, but after reading the review @ Secrets I pulled the trigger on the Samusung 860. I'm also hesitant about buying without being able to return without making the extra trips to the Post Office.
I think I'd rather get the Oppo player for the same price that also plays xvids and divx files. It may only have a DVI connection but they include a dvi to hdmi cable.
