Dolphin Stadium 720p HDTV (worlds largest) unveiled
A while back we told you the Miami
Dolphins were building the largest high definition television
in the world, They showed it off yesterday for the season
ticket holders and now we have video. Even in this relatively low resolution video you can see the incredible
clarity and detail present in the 720p LED screen. Although having high definition at the game may seem like overkill,
we're sure many of you are buying Dolphins' tickets right now and with good reason. There are actually two of the screens, as you'll notice in the video, both high definition but one is bigger at a stunning 1750 inches. Is Dolphin Stadium going to be the first one where fans buy tickets for a better view of the big screen? Allow stadium jealousy for every other NFL team to begin now.

Wow! If I didn't read the title, I would have sworn that pcture was a billboard. Any word on cost? After watching the video, I'm truly amazed. Even with the low power consumption of LED, that has to require a LOT of power.
My hope is that this will sell a lot of HDTVs. You know, say something like, "And you can get a slightly smaller version of this for your home when you can't make it to the stadium. [Insert advertisment from manufacturer here.]"
This could mean other things, too. Why not have movie screenings, etc.? You know, like a midnight showing of Harry Potter (in 1080p, my local theater had that, it was great) for 100,000 people. Or any digital movie for that matter. (I would have said Star Wars, but that era's over.)
Wow! It's almost as big as Frank's 2000 inch TV...
SONY had something similar, a cinema projector which utilised some technology called super-HD. So whats this?
Me and the guys tried to steal this bad boy, but we couldn't figure out how to load it on the flatbed without drawing undue attention. Bob tried making a distraction, but his rendition of Feelings didn't carry as much sway over the crowd's attention as the Caterpillar we wheeled up in the endzone.
Can't wait to see how this puppie's going to hold up during HURRICANE SEASON.
Did Daktronics make this?
I would love to see an HD Drivein theater
that would be awsome
you could go to the movies in the afternoon and in daylight !!!
what an awsome Idea
Imagine G.R.A.W. for the 360 on this, better yet... Oblivion.
what will they do during the hurrican season to protect the screens?? O well it is pretty freakin sweet. How big is the second screen?
makes me so happy to be a dolphins ticket...and a nerd!!! can't wait to go a couple games this season
I guess the Atlanta Braves no longer have the record. We've had an HD board in our outfield for a few years now that's 80ft wide. The thing is amazing. When we go to games I catch myself watching the board more than the field because even with good field level seats you can see more on the board.
It was made by Daktronics, at Least South Dakota can be proud of something, Daktronics is a very fine company, but, I am soon going to 1up them and make a 1752 inch display, I can fit that in my room just fine
The Video shown on the Larger of the 2 screens was stretched...sad...the smaller screen is 16x9 or 1.78-1.85:1...the larger screen must be 2.35:1 so unless they have the score up on part of the board it's gonna look like shiat. They better not have it that way for the games cuz I sit facing the larger screen. The smaller screen looked absolutely sick!
yeah that my areas stadium still hate the dolphins though.
now all they need is to find a team.
now i know what they mean by...i need an edit button...i'm a fan...not a ticket, lol
Hmmm strange I read that a guy in Holland ( friesland )
also bought one....
Can i hook my XBOX up to it?
Can I rent this for a HALO 2 Tournament?
I saw this on www.positionplays.com a few days ago. They must be Dolphin fans. I think they may have a good team this year. They sure did finish strong last year.
It's not even real HD though. Maybe in horizontal resolution, but definitely not in vertical resolution. Real HD is 1080i or even better Full HD at 1080p. This thing only satisfies the lowest form of HD (720p) with a resolution of 2112 by 736. Kick ass display but I really hate how often things are touted as being HD when only capable of 720p. They can show DVD's at their full resolution but almost all HD content is at least 1080i which they have to down-convert to display, losing resolution.
Uh, 720p = real HD.
1080i is not the only HD in the world, if you think so, you've probably never compared both side by side.
Regardless, find us a bigger screen with a better res and we'll be impressed.
For now, I'm looking for some popcorn and an HD-DVD player.
Both screens are pretty amazing. Cost with all the studio equipment (cameras, switchers etc.) and the big screens was $23 million I believe.
i have been to a game this season and that thing is everything i dreamed of. i love it. i watched it more than the players on the field. it looks better than real life. i wonder how much it cost, and how do they cover it up?
