Bill, I understand that VBI is just an analog phenomenon, but the fact of the matter is that it is real with HD as well. I have done many ATSC captures to my PC and I can see the line (usually green) on the end when watching HD in a window on my computer. I ran into a Neilson software engineer once and he confirmed that they were still encoding information into the VBI.
