I think the lack of HDMI on this model and also on the Xbox 360 is a little hint from the industry that HDMI and ICT is not going to be a big factor for the next few years. I do not see any movie studio using any type of ICT for a long time to come.
With that said, I use HDMI connection for my STB and also my DVD player. There is a slight picture difference. But to 99% of the population, they just cant or wont see it. Add to that, the huge handshake problem with different products connected via HDMI. I really wouldnt be surprised if the HDMI format itself fails and slowly dies off. Just my 2 cents.
