Radio Shack to increase LCD offerings
Think Radio Shack. What do you think of? Do radios even come to mind anymore? It seems like they dropped that a long time ago. Their floors are now occupied with random plastic toys and cell phones. The Shack is going to start phasing in more LCD TVs over the next few years. The company plans on offering 32-inch and smaller LCDs, but some analysts have a good point. Do they have enough room in those stores to offer enough of a selection on the floor and room in the back to store 'em? We just don't see this helping Radio Shack.Thoughts?

I think the Shacks days are coming to an end. The hobby market is so small that electronic parts are bought on the internet. The Shack doesn't offer much to compete with the Best Buys and Circuit City for consumer electronics. I guess they can be just another cel phone store but who needs more of those?
Radio Shack is garbage these days.
I was in one about a month ago and they had nothing on the shelves except for remote control cars. LOL. The guy in the place didnt even know what an HDMI cable was. He pointed to a USB cable asking if that was what I was talking about. ahahahaha
the shack just down the street from where i live stopped selling electronic parts/componets altogether.
radio shack is losing it's image and sense of place in this high tech micro-mini world of ours. why do they exist anymore?
A recent press release said they are closing almost 500 stores nationwide. I know the 3 near me already have the yellow "store closing" sale signs in the window. 25-50% off. Thanks for the memories RS.
What they SHOULD have done is gone all-out in terms of selling cables, universal remotes, hi-end batteries, and other parts as they are high-margin and have a long shelf life. They have been focusing on cell phones and satellite, which are HUGE money makers (no product to sell really, and HUGE kickbacks, just a few cell phone and satellite TV sales and that could be over a thousand bucks in pure profit).
It will be interesting to see what happens.
