Countdown Begins: 30 days till Blu-ray

If Samsung wouldn't have delayed their Blu-ray player we could all be enjoying it right now, writing reviews and doing comparisons, but we all know how ifs can go.
Today marks the beginning of the 30 day countdown to Blu-ray. Just as a recap, Samsung will be releasing the BD-P1000 with a MSRP of $999 on June 25th 2006. Sony Pictures, MGM Studios and Lionsgate Home Entertainment will all be releasing titles at launch spread out between two release dates, June 20th and June 27th.

Anyone else ever wonder why the first player out on the Sony created new format is a Samsung? Wouldn't it make sense it would be a Sony player? I guess they were hoping to have PS3 by now to be launch player.

No. 1 (Brian): BRD is NOT a Sony-created format. It was created by a consortium, one of the primary participants of which is Sony. And Sony seems to be pushing the format more aggressively than all others, mostly because they have the market credibility to do so. But it is not a fundamentally "Sony" format, like MD and UMD.
Funk that. I'm not spending a grand on ANY HD player. Hell my future Sammy 50" 1080P is going to be twice that. The PS3 better be a good BD-ROM player.
