Dan Rather leaving CBS for HDNet?

Could happen, according to the New York Times. Dan Rather has been frustrated by his role on 60 Minutes as of late and is looking to leave CBS soon, enter our deep-pocketed friend Mark Cuban. He is apparently offering Rather his own hour long news show on HDNet, and the opportunity to be the first big name in high definition news. For his part, Rather says he hopes to take advantage of it. News programming in high-def has been very slow to roll out and such a big name jumping in could provide some needed attention to get the ball rolling.

I would rather see FoxNews or CNN go HD, not sure I wanna see old Dan in all his HD glory. Guess i'm lucky Cox cable sucks and doesn't carry HDNet

i think that dan rather would bring much to the hd news programs. Im drunk so i cant say with certanity but i remember always lookin forward to cbs nightly news with dan rather.. i think that even if bombs.. at least his persona can at least educate most peeps bout the possibilities about HD news..

Dan Rather was treated a lot better than any other "reporter" that tried to pass off as true a totally fabricated story complete with forged documents. Ol' Dan has no one to blame but himself. Shame on Cuban for throwing money at such a biased boob.

Come to think of it there are not many news types I really would like to see in HD. Maybe that Haselback gal that's on the View? She'd definately be a much bigger draw than old, washed up, Dan.

I do not believe Dan Rather was treated fairly by CBS. After all of his years of faithful service, I think CBS should have more supportive. The story that got DR into trouble, was not his doing alone. DR was the anchor, so he took the rap. I will never watch CBS Evening News or 60 Minutes ever again! I wanted DR to leave CBS! Is HD the right choice? I don't know, but at least he's gone from the desperate CBS!

I live near Austin and have been a life-long fan of your News... which was by the way the reporting of the News (what happened) instead of what most news outlets report today... ( what if )...
