Food Network HD launches June 30
Scripps Networks launched HGTV HD recently, and their second high definition television station is due up in just a few days. Food Network HD begins airing on June 30, both on several U.S. operators. An unspecified large satellite provider (Dish?), Wide Open West, Buckeye Cable and Sunrise Network subscribers will be the first to enjoy HDTV and Fine Living programming in high definition. They also announced that they have made an agreement to distribute HGTV HD in Japan.
Does anyone have HGTV HD or live in an area getting Food Network HD soon? The only bad thing about these announcements is that most people still don't have the channels yet. Filling out these niche areas with high-def programming will draw more people into the fold. Even if Extreme homes of Europe doesn't pique your interest now, how many times are you really going to watch Ring of Fire?

I live in the area served by Buckeye Cable (which I'm surprised to see mentioned since its such a small company , I also work there) We've had HGTV HD since its launch and we are launching Food TV HD as mentioned in the article.
HGTV HD is a decent channel, I do watch the show called Rezoned where they tour homes that used to be other types of buildings (grocery stores, libraries, car dealerships, ect) It is always good to have more HD content, even if its not always what I'd want to watch. The memo we recieved at work indicated that Food TV HD's programing schedule would work similarly to HGTV HD's with the same shows basically on a loop for each day, and infomercials at night.

Not a bad linup compared to what I've heard about other providers. I do regularly remind the programming department about other channels that are available that we don't carry (The Movie Channel HD, MHD, National Geographic HD, ect) Altough I don't think my suggestions carry that much weight unforutnately.
Damn thats more than Charter gets. The only "major" channel your missing is UPN HD. I guess you really dont need that channel because I would guess that your WB will be the one changing to The CW.
For Charter, we dont get INHD or Food HD/HGTV HD. We dont even get FOX in HD. In my eyes, Charter blows...
Dude! Thanks for telling me. I have WOW, and I had no idea I had HGHD! It looks great, although our company compresses a lot, so motion causes macroblocking.
I have WOW and I must say I'm sick of seeing the FoodTV HD cycle promo spinning non-stop. I can only watch bobby flaye make the same sandwhich 30 times in an hour... still I waiting for ESPN2 HD, INHD and INHD2
I believe Dish will be adding this an several more in fall or so the rumors are saying.
You guys are lucky, I have Cox and here's my listings...

Rachael Ray in HD is always a plus.
Dish already has HGTV in HD, if that is what you are asking in the article, some cool stuff on it.

While the lineup isn't horrible, I'd still like to see MHD,National Geographic HD, Universal HD, HGTV-HD, Food-HD and HDNET/HDNET Movies. That lineup on Buckeye Cable is very nice, just goes to show that sometimes the smaller companies can offer better programming choices than the bigger ones like Comcast.
Any one know when comcast will be getting HGTV or Food in HD?
