I watched both 2001 and 2010 on HDnet , and it was so good visually that i stopped everything i was doing and literally got sucked in by every frame. Thanks HDnet, IMHO stores should be using 2001 in HD to demo widescreen 1080 stuff. Mostly because the attention to detail and grand scale of the scenes is worth it.
It really comes down to this, NTSC and DVD, and DVD upscaled on a large 1080 wide screen are worse accuracy than my eyes are, and 2001 and most of HDnet stuff is as good as my eyes are, so i sat 5 feet away.
every pixel was worth it.
2001 on HDNet movies was amazing, especially in the "warp" scene. If I were into drugs, (I'm not) I would invite all my friends over and watch that scene (it's on the DVR) under the influence. Really Trippy.
I love HDNet and HDNet movies. Hope the space shuttle takes off tuesday, I'll be watching.
