MyNetworkTV the first all HD broadcast network?
We have been wondering for some time what was to come of the many former WB/UPN affiliates once the CW goes live this fall. We're not sure what rock we have been under for the past few months but most of this news is from May. Better late than never, this will possibly be the first all HD network. Don't get too excited because it doesn't look like the new network is going to have something for everyone. Unless your favorite programing is Novelas, yeah we didn't know what they were either, but thanks to Wikipedia we learned they are spanish style soap operas, the kind they make fun of on SNL's Besos y Lagrimas. The network is owned by Fox Television and CEO Jack Abernethy said, "We will be all telenovelas, all the time."
If you still can't wait to watch check out the affiliate list to see if MyNetworkTV is coming to your area.

Why even bother with that kind of programming. Meh...
Good thing is that my local UPN will be CW and my WB will be this thing. I can pull the UPN signal perfect, WB not so much, and they got lip synch up the a**.
Wasn't VOOM all HD, before it got swallowed by Dish Network?
Most (if not all) of the old voom channels still are all HD all the time. But I guess they don't consider these networks? Maybe because they are a different type of TV station, not affiliated out across the country?
Here in Seattle, this network is causing a real headache for those of use who use Dish Network. Tribune Broadcasting owns both this and the local FOX affiliate (KCPQ) and Tribune won't let Dish rebroadcast KCPQ-HD unless they also take this channel (to be called KMYQ, formerly KTWB). I've had a lengthy e-mail conversation with the Senior Counsel for Tribune and he claims they are in "negotiations" with Dish - but that's been going on since May. And to make matters worse, KCPQ-HD is very hard to get in Seattle OTA b/c of where their tower is. All the other networks are happily on Dish.
I work for a TV station that was in negotiations with "My Network TV" , supposedly the affilate has the choice to replace the word network with whatever word they want, like My Cleveland TV,or "My Indy TV" as long as its something to do with your city or local content, since the affiliation literally means that they provide 4 hours or less a day of programming that is "required" to carry...
ohyeah, and by no means is this "all HD", as this is not a requirement to become an affiliate... and they only provide primetime content
Terrific! a prime time High Vision sex and kisses drama with a bit of murder and conspiracy type of network to entertain most of us during thouse lazy-ass boring nights. Unfortunately, FOX's MY Network TV is late on that, Spanish language networks Telemundo and Univision already broadcast their novelas in 720p.
Telenovelas are also known as serials, and is the most popular type of television program around the world bar none. India's serials are seen around South & Central Asia and the Middle East, for instance. The main concept about them that differentiates them from 'regular' programs is that they air new episodes every night, 5 nights a week, but unlike soap operas, have a definite end (they don't run on endlessly for 30 years, like "Days of Our Lives"). Most run 13 weeks (65 episodes) but some can run up to 200+ new episodes.
