DIY, First high-def hip-hop music video?
Could this video be the first high-def music video? According to the makers .mac webpage, he recoded the video featuring ClevaFam (we hadn't heard of 'em ether) on a Sony high-def camcorder and then cut it in his G5 and Mac Book Pro via Final Cut Pro. How does it look? Well, you can check it out for yourself on his site, but we think it looks rather good. Nice and crisp with good sound. NOTE: We are saying that the sound that is coming out of our speakers is clean and not that the content of the music is good. Would you be interested in music videos again if they were high-def? We are sure they would recapture some lost audiences.

i dont get it, we just got MHD on comcast which appears to be a MTV/VH1/CMT high-def channel. I know MTV doesnt show videos often enough, but doesnt this channel show HD videos? I havent had a chance to watch it yet, but I was really hoping this was the case. So the answer is yes, I would be interested in videos again if they were high def...I could really care less if Cribs or real world is in hd, tho
What does MHD play? I don't know since I don't have it, but I thought it was music videos instead of the regular MTV cheese. I must say that I'll tune into CD USA on the 101 (DirecTV) to see who's on, but most music videos are not very interesting (but maybe I'm too old for that).
The videos on MHD were all shot on film as opposed to HD cameras. Someone else will have to explain the difference between the 2. I know that things shot on film can be trasferred to HD like all movies.
I work at a music video network. This is not the first hip hop video in HD, whether shot on film or video. There have been several. There are at least 2 posted in the HVX forums at DVXUser.com
As for the difference between film vs HD camera sourced HD material: 35mm film is high enough a quality analoge source to be transfered to HD video and still be coinsidered high enough for HD. Film, depending on who you ask, tends to capture the light better and delivers better color. HD video cameras capture finer details in the image.
Look at the differences between "24" and the new "Miami Vice" movie. Both involved a lot of action shots, had night and day shots, and used a "real" handheld feel for them. 24 was nearly entirely shot on film while Miami Vice was shot on HD video. Check out thier differences of image sharpness and color saturation.
"...Sony high-def camcorder and then cut it in his G%..."
Whats a G%?
#4 - it says a G5, thats an Apple machince, often used in the video editing world.
And I have a slew of 1080i videos capped from MHD
