I have a 30" and i choose to sit pretty close just because the text is small. I don't know what they are testing these things, if the testers even thought of it as a problem, or if the development team just didn't want to change the text or what but i hope next gen doesn't continue with the thiny text.

is it me or are other games having small text in their games as well... playing NBA Live 06 the menu text is pretty small for me

Isagani

Comments on Xbox's 'Dead Rising' seems to require an HDTV

Actually, on my set I could read everything, sure it was a little bit of a pain, but it was distinguishable.

Brian

Comments on Xbox's 'Dead Rising' seems to require an HDTV

Smaller than the text on FFXI? Man that was horrible, not to mention the whole play experience. I didn't have a problem with DR on the demo, but I'm on an HD set... people play 360 on regular sets? Why?! You can get a 30" widescreen HD Philips CRT ("renewed") for under $400 shipped! (and shipping is a lot for that beast). Not playing 360 games in HD is like not watching films in O.A.R.

Runciter

Comments on Xbox's 'Dead Rising' seems to require an HDTV

I have a STV and i gotta say,btw its normal STV not widescreen, and the text is impossible to read.
So im one of those who gonna have to buy a hdtv before the EU release.

quezcatol

Comments on Xbox's 'Dead Rising' seems to require an HDTV

I have no problem reading the text on my 27" Sony WEGA CRT tv, but I see how someone with worse eyesight than me couldn't distinguish the letters. The only parts that are hard to read are when Otis calls and when youre conversing with a character in-game, which aren't too important anyway. The important info comes from cutscenes with voices and in the tutorial boxes that pop up which are perfectly readable.

MIke

Comments on Xbox's 'Dead Rising' seems to require an HDTV

Runciter #5,
Yes, I played FFXI on 360 for a while (Up until about a month ago.) and I must say this is worse than that. FFXI's text is very legible at a close distance, even medium. Not to mention that you can just get used to it. After a while you know where everything is in your inventory you dont have to read too much, and the pics help. But this is almost impossible at times to read. Especially when people are talking to you and it kinda speeds by. It wouldnt seem like it was going to quickly if it wasnt so hard to read.
If they came out with a fix for this the game would be 100x better (and I already love the game). But I highly doubt they will. Maybe reviewers should start to take this into consideration and when they play to review games that could do a little bit on HD and SD.
Anyone have comparison pics yet? as the people that say they have no problems reading it either have HDTV or are sitting right ontop of there tv's and have great vision. I'm sitting about 1 foot away from mine and I can read it... But it's not easy. -Jay

jayquik03

Comments on Xbox's 'Dead Rising' seems to require an HDTV

On the demo everything is fine for me. I have crap eyes and I'm viewing it on a 26" Samsung HDTV. Maybe you people should book yourselves an eye appointment. Whats the point in high def if your eyes are crap? ;-)

Also shouldn't it be "a HDTV" not " an HDTV?
