Sony knows there is a problem and even knows how to fix it (they already issued the fix to CNET), but the consumers don't get the fix yet and have no idea when the fix will be available (if ever). My (2nd) A2000 has this problem, and it is for sure going back, especially because I have seen newer model builds that don't have this issue. We're in the process of isolating July or newer build A2000 serial numbers at AVSForum so people can avoid the June builds (which appear to be the ones with the problems)if they want to avoid this "resolution mess". Check it out at: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=8251781#post8251781

Ryan

Comments on Sony offering a fix to the A2000 resolution mess

Looked at mine and of course I have a June build (9000949).

How exactly can I tell if my set is affected?

Goose

Comments on Sony offering a fix to the A2000 resolution mess

Good to know as I was about to pull the trigger on the 60-inch version....think I might wait a tad bit longer...

Kevin C. First, this is a 1080p set. It still offers 720p which is better than 1080i. Very few broadcasts are offered in 1080i and not in 720p. Even then most cable boxes have the option to turn off 1080i and use strictly 720p. And, who uses HDMI for a 1080i signal to begin with. And even CNET said it was not noticeable in normal viewing. I have a June build and never would have known about the glitch if a buddy had not sent me the link to CNET and AVS forum. I doubt that I ever would have used the HDMI port for a 1080i signal anyways. This T.V. is still amazing once you get the options set up correctly. Don't use CNET's suggestions but one of the reviewers on their site gave some good settup help that I only had to adjust a little to suit my viewing room.

Kwiq Niss

Comments on Sony offering a fix to the A2000 resolution mess

Kwiq

Why didnt you just buy a 720P TV set then? I didn't say that I watched everything in 720p or that I avoided the HDMI input alltogether. Now i'm leaning towards my other choices, the Mitsubishi 65" DLP or the HP 65" MicroDisplay. They are a little bigger, but now sure how they compare quality wise to the Sony SXRD?
