The Ethernet and telephone jack ports are very common in Japanese TV sets, it's part of the B-CAS card and CS110 tuner to access pay-per-view type programming and interactive live programs like NHK's news and others.

Although not mention here, the use of the B-CAS card as been compare to the CableCARD in the U.S. but is not exactly the same, it's more like an integrated 2-way {terrestrial} Satellite receiver.

The D4 inputs are the Japanese version of the component version. The meaning of "D4" is that accepts 480i, 480p, 720p and 1080i resolutions.
