DIY, Sky HD software gets updated - Brits rejoice
Hopefully all those issues that Sky HD users where having will now by gone thanks to a much-needed firmware update. Users are claiming that the update fixes bugs, stability issues, the EPG, and video transportation. Hopefully this update is already downloaded into owner's boxes and to check, simply navigate to the Services menu, select System Setup, and then System Details. The model number should read 607120. The growing pains of Sky HD hopefully were eased a little with this much-needed update. It is unfortunate that the technology market moves at such a rapid pace these days that products and services get rushed to the market and early adopters must suffer through many updates till the product they paid good money for finally works as advertised.Anyone Sky HD user care to comment on the update?

Mine was auto updated last week, yet the EPG still freezes, Fast Forward at 30x still doesn't work well, occasionally recording 2 x HD channels causes the box to crash, needing a reboot and losing what you've recorded
it's still a bag of shit to say how much we paid for the box (£300/$550) and how much we pay monthly (£10/$18) on top of the normal subscription (£42/$80)
Well you're a mug for paying if you ask me. Vote with your £'s and demand your money back. You're being ripped off mate.
I'm happy to pay the £32 per month for sky+ as i see that as a high quality service for the money. I got a free box and no additional subscription charges. For HD as much as i do appreciate the picture quality difference, the fact it only works on a few channels i rarely watch anyway and youre not getting any extra content i find it hard to imagine why people would give them an extra tenner for it.
David,
to use Sky+ without paying them an extra tenner for the priveledge you have to subscribe to 2 premium subscriptions (2x sports or 2x movies or a mix, or both), the cheapest of which is £36, or so I've been told by Sky.
And if I don't subscribe to SkyHD how else am I supposed to watch HD telly (not downloading stuff, and I'm not in a TW area)?
