We have searched high and low at CEDIA '06 only to find SED TVs are not here. Trust us, we looked hard. We just want to know who made the decision at Toshiba and Canon to not bring the flat-screen technology that could
change the face of TVs even though they are suppose to start the production lines
sometime this year? SEDs are built on a similar system as CRTs but just at the pixel level. Toshiba has a large booth at the EXPO and there is more then enough space to make room for just one SED but nope, SED TVs are MIA at the 2006 CEDIA EXPO.
I do not think it was in either company's best interest to short-circuit the life cycle of plasma and LCD when they can a) continue to make lots of money on plasma and LCD, b) provide additional time for refining SED and begin initial plant construction, and c) better plan boutique sales next year as SED (like OLED) will be expensive upon initial offering.
Disappointing. With such a lack of news lately a bit of good PR on blogs and in the news couldn't hurt at all. Hoping to see it at CES 2007.
