When I made the return, the sales guy pushed me towards a Plasma, and I ended up buying a Panasonic in the same size and am happy with the choice, as HD looks great and so do DVD movies (and SD is fine as well). With the limited selection of HD sources, it probably goes without saying that one should consider what SD/DVD will look like, but very few reviews mention this. My best advice, heard from many others as well, is to take your own DVD to the store with you and don't buy the TV unless the store will let you play it and adjust the settings.

jonashpdx

Comments on 5 tips for HDTV shopping

The two at the top of my list right now are the Sharp LC37D90U and the Westinghouse LVM-42W2. But I'm still waiting for the fallout of CEDIA 2006. There were a few units announced at that show that I am very interested in, especially the 42" Sharp 1080p unit.

Martin Jones

Comments on 5 tips for HDTV shopping

http://www.sharpusa.com/products/ModelLanding/0,1058,1761,00.html

Martin Jones
