UPN and WB could not continue as two independent networks, so the parent companies Viacom and Time Warner decided to merge them as form CW.  So, in most markets that had both UPN and WB affiliates, one affiliate was left without a network.  Most of these stations joined the My Network TV network.  In some markets it is the former UPN affiliate.
