Canadians getting two new HD shows

Canadians love their HD just as much as us Americans do and we are happy to report to 'em that two of their best comedy's are making the switch to HD. The Mercer Report and Royal Canadian Air Farce are premiering next week on CBC and both of the premiers are going to be in wonderful high-def. We're sure that most Canadians know what these shows are about and we're also sure that most Americans don't, well, care to know what they are about. The Mercer Report debuts on Tuesday, Oct. 3 at 8pm and the Royal Canadian Air Farce premieres a few days later on Friday, Oct 6 at 8pm both on CBC. Don't forget that you have to be able to receive the high-def signal in order to watch the new high-def flavors of these shows, eh.

Rick Mercer is like Adam Carolla but Funnier!
Oh goody, now I'm not just not watching Air-Farce, I'm not watching it in HD.
Pinch me, it's the future!
Seriously, AF is about as funny as SNL after that invisible line at about 1:00AM, where the sketches double in length and contain only one joke.
CBC should be using it's HD budget on some of it's evening dramas, not the only programme consistently less entertaining that "The Red Green Show."
Furthermore, I think we can safely put Luba Goy (the woman in red on that graphic) on the list of ladies who are not going to benefit from being shown in glorious HD. (Not that the rest of the AF cast won't be displaying at least 6 recursions-worth of previously invisible wrinkles at HD resolutions)
I'm Canadian and I avoid these shows like the plague. Kids In The Hall was the last great Canadian TV comedy. Canadian comedy has been hijacked by what I like to call the "Toronto Media Cabal". Their taste is inbred, mediocre and pandering and they systematically suck the life out of anything good, kind of like a city size Lorne Michaels. They survive only because of CanCon (the need to fill a certain amount of airtime with Candian produced content). The other problem with these programs is that they're trying so hard to sell their "jokes" that they kill them in the process. All the real, smart talent eventually heads South of the border cause they are underfed or outright ignored by the TMC in favor of tame pablum like Air Farce and Elvira Kurtz.
