Doesn't anybody think that the noise from the 360 is kind of a detriment to the movie viewing experience. I've got one hooked up to my Sanyo PLV-Z4 projector, and the noise doesn't bother me when gaming, but it wouldn't be very pleasant during a quiet movie scene. I hear the PS3 is much quieter. Don't get me wrong, I don't care who wins the format war, just pointing out a drawback to this add-on.

I read that the 360 enters the same "quite mode" is does when it plays a DVD, when playing a HD-DVD.
I'm guessing it won't be as quite as a stand alone but if your looking at that sort of setup you'd probibly get a stand alone anyway.
As for the PS3 option.... I'm in the UK, I have wait 4 months to find out how loud it'll be!
