If the primary source of the noise during gaming is the DVD drive (scanning and spinning at 12x) .. then it should be no problem since the DVD drive wont be used and the HD-DVD will be as loud as any other HD-DVD player.
Having said that, add-ons have always failed. And, this one doesnt do games and its bigger than the Wii.
