Even if it was inferior it doesn't mean anything Beta was suprior to VHS and it lost. People claim the PSP is SUPERIOR to the DS and the DS is kicking it's ass hard. Also HD-DVD movies and players are selling better then blu-ray. I love mine it comes in so clear and looks amazing. Plus the HD-DVD for the Xbox 360 is going to seriously boost HD-DVD seeing how there aren't gonna be many PS3's for a while and EVEN FEWER blu-ray players seeing how Sony has said they want to concentrate on the PS3 more. When companies see the HD-DVD taking off and blu-ray not doing anythign because no players they will switch and some already have.

Phoenixxx1974

Comments on Panasonic's Blu-ray player shipping real soon - hopefully

HD-DVD is not equal to Blue Ray in definition on early disks (and reviewed as inferior) due to the compression used (mpeg2), plus glitches with a chip on the Blue Ray player. However once they start using VC-1 for example resolution will be EQUAL to HD-DVD, but NOT better. The ONLY advantage Blue Ray has over HD-DVD is disk capacity, period. They BOTH are encoded in 1080p, so quality is the SAME (high end HD-DVD player generation 2 will output 1080p, same as Blue Ray). So if all you want to do is watch movies, then both are the same, and you better go with the cheaper priced HD-DVD players, since you will get the SAME resolution out.

Luis T Puig
