I don't know why but a part of me is saying that this push back is deliberate on the part of Sony to give their "cheap" PS3 a push off as a blu-ray player... but then the other part of me is saying PS3 won't have substantial availability till probably mid to late 2007 so that can't be the reason.
It's kind of sad to think that the supposed savior for the blu-ray format is launching with 400,000 units for the holiday season.
The turning point in this pointless little war will happen when studios come to their sense and wholeheartedly support hddvd. As it is now blu-ray doesn’t make sense as a movie format; 2x the cost for equivalent (or sometimes less) the picture quality of hddvd. For a format that touts itself as having almost 2x the storage capacity and demanding 2x the cost of hddvd, one would think it would be 2x the quality… apparently not.
