Couple of whys: Why is Blu-Ray/ HD-DVD better than this? Does this player take a standard DVD and upscale it to 1080p? I use HDMI, but why wouldn't they eliminate the composite and include component?

This is not better because bluray and hddvd have the image at a higher resolution, where upscaling guesses what should be in those extra pixels
