Legendary Yule Log broadcast pits SD against HD

Anyone remotely familiar with history in New York or the holiday season in general can remember the ole Yule Log broadcast that showed a burning fireplace with soft, classic seasonal hits cycling through in the background. While it's not likely to be the most invigorating thing on television come Christmas morning, the folks at WPIX, who are restoring the classic log show for a three-hour broadcast, say that it allows families to reminisce and think back on the gatherings of yesteryear. However, Jason Patton -- vice president for business development on INHD -- feels that the new widescreen version of the heartwarming fireplace is the superior rendition. Shot by Ron Roy in high definition, the picture will clearly outshine the "30 year old" version looping on standard cable, but apparently some folks actually prefer the classic look to the new. Nevertheless, we HD freaks should be sure to catch the fiery new version on INHD starting at 7:00AM on Christmas morning and continuing on for 24 hours.
Comcast has an on-demand version in HD.
I live near Philadelphia,Pa and I watched this in HD last week. Comcast has this "yule log" in the HD On-demand section. The HD version does look really good, and makes for a relaxing evening with the family while enjoying some drinks.
If you don't have HD cable you can also check out the Ambient fire DVD. It isn't HD but it still looks really nice cause it was shot in 1080i. It fills my 43" widescreen just fine and there are a lot of different options for the fire places.

I saw the History of the Yule Log on WPIX Channel 11 in NYC the other night.
What I saw and listened to was that nice. TRUTH be told is enlightening and I won't ever 4get what was aired. Like it's be said, "What's done in the DARK...comes to LIGHT"
The history of the Yule Log is sad. No warm feelings @ all and to be very HONEST, since a little girl, when that Yule Log burned, I automaticallt turned the channel. It meant nothing then and means nothing now.
