What really sucks is that DirectTV has a monopoly on the NFL television rights. For NFL fans who need Sunday Ticket to see their favorite team every week (like me), DirecTV is really the only way to go. That's probably the only reason DirecTV keeps 50% of their subscribers. I'm willing to bet that if other providers were able to offer Sunday Ticket, DirecTV would lose a lot of business.

While I will likely stick with DirecTV for the forseeable future, I'm growing tired of hearing about the supposed 'hundreds' of HD channels coming when 90% of them will be local networks. I'm tired of the talk ~ I want to see ACTION!

I switched to satellite programming years ago because of my hatred for cable companies but, unfortunately, DirecTV is getting closer to that side of the fence now more than ever.

I'll believe the "100 national HDTV channels" hype when I see it. DirecTV started withholding the HD feeds of the NFL Sunday Ticket at the beginning of this season, unless you opted for the additional $99 SuperFan pack as well. The total of the package is close to $300 for 5-6 months of service? Are you kidding me, DirecTV?! They offered me a free HD DVR to maintain my subscription back in Augist, but I told them to take a hike, as OTA HD helps fill the void.
