Until the is enough must-have titles for a great enough consuming population then its really silly to say one format will win over another based on the paltry real-world catelog both HD DVD and Blu-ray currently have.

How many people can say there are, say, 20-30 must-have titles on one format to make that a winning format for them and one they can also afford? I personally have 2-3 DVDs I bought to show off the video and or audio of my home theater, but compare that to over 200 DVDs I have of which better than 50 were must have.

Since I cannot find one format that can justify the cost up-front for a 25 must-have title selection, neither format wins anything for me. This isn't to say the delivery system isn't merited, but rather the catelog isn't there. I'm not spending $25 on a hi-def title I don't want just because it is in high-definition.

GhostDoggy

Comments on HD DVD Promotional Group touting big name Spielberg films

Most HD DVD's are $19.99...and I just read a couple of days ago someone had $15 wed or something like that. End of Story.

Even if not, I don't understand why people go crazy with his movies. I can't stand any of them. E.T.? Pretty much any other movie on extraterrestrial life is better. Jurassic Park? They are OK, but hardly the best ever. If we're gonna bring back to life dinosaurs, why not put them on a Zoo and then shit breaks loose with an outbreak? Jaws? BORING. War of the Worlds? Everything would have been great if the ending wasn't botched. Minority Report? Not only one of the worst Sci-Fi movies I've ever seen, both because its boring AND because "Paranormal psychological prediction" is one of the stupidest ideas to relate to the future; that's so medieval. Not to mention it has Tom Cruise, and nobody likes Tom Cruise anymore. Schindler's List? There are tons, TONS of holocaust movies better than that one. }Munich? Man, what a boring movie. I expected more action, a better ending, and so on. Seriously, what else? I didn't know Steve-O was bad until I actually started analizing the fact that all his movies are pieces of. Great way to ruin storylines with hollywoodesque effects to everything. And by the way, people should stop insulting Miyamoto by considering him "The Spielberg of Videogames". More like the Harold Ramis, Peter Jackson, Ridley Scott, Stanley Kubrick, Brian DePalma, or Francis Ford Coppola or whatever isn't Spielberg (or Lucas) of videogames. Seriously.

Oh, and George Lucas owns Star Wars? Star Wars is old. The name "Star Wars" went down the drain after Episode 1 anyway.

Now Lord of the Rings, or anything competing with Steven Spielberg would give a boost to HD-DVD. Then again, we all know that's available on Blu-ray. Sorry Toshiba, better luck with your crappy burning laptops, or other non-memorable gadgets you make.

bootsielon

Comments on HD DVD Promotional Group touting big name Spielberg films

Engadget are a bunch idiotic fanboys....

Read this article..

http://hddvd.highdefdigest.com/news/

hannibalchew
