I own both formats and can tell you that they both have their ups and downs. For instance.
1. HD DVD has more classic titles and more titles that would interest a wider range of age groups.
2. Blu-Ray has more new and action based titles that appeal to a younger age group.
3. HD DVD has much better interactive features from a software standpoint.
4. Blu-Ray has the PS3 which is a MUCH better player than my A-1 in speed and features from a hardware standpoint.
5. All HD DVD players have an ethernet port for quick and easy upgrades and bug fixes. Not the case with Blu-Ray. ( Although the PS3 does have it )
6. Blu-Ray has a hard coating with makes the disks more durable.
7. All HD DVD players must have dual video output for PIP features on the disks. Not so with Blu-Ray.
8. Blu-Ray enjoys much broader studio and manufacter support. Although HD DVD has the eclusive support of Universal and other smaller studios.
I could go on and on but the point is that they are both good and if you want to get all the HD you just get both. This battle isnt like Beta/VHS because they are both on the same size disk. There are already combo player and combo disks are comming. It will be like DVD+ and DVD-. Both of those are still here and still play.
“Getting too close completely blurred what we saw to the point of incomprehension, but again, this shows a whole heap of potential that's fascinating to us.”
