I'm shopping for a new TV, and I have to say, after all my hours & hours of research, I've found that the more I learn & the deeper I get into the details, the more confusing & frustrating it gets. And just when you think you've found the best choice for your situation & your needs, you learn something new, or you read reviews on AVSforum, or you see a new price cut, or a new model is set to be released next month, or you hear about banding or ghosting issues, and on & on... The best thing to do? Learn the basics, consider your peripherals, viewing habits, the lighting in your home, and your viewing distance. Narrow your choices down to a half dozen, read some *owners'* reviews, cut your choices in half, then buy the one with the best price. After that, never, ever, ever read another thing about TVs until you're ready to buy again!
